Google is the hardest of the three to rank well in, msn second and yahoo third.

Google is the most accurate search engine in determining which sites are strong and ranking them better. Although it remains hard to compete with those wealthy webmasters who buy and sell links.

- This is more difficult than yahoo. The rankings seem inaccurate as well with weak sites ranking better than strong sites in a lot of niches. But the only way to get around this is linking with those sites only, that are ranking well with msn.

Its best to focus on link exchange with those sites ranking highly in all these search engines and not low ranked sites. Getting back links on high authority sites is the key. Over my years of working in SEO, I have found this most difficult in MSN.
