Should you accept them all, or try to accept some while ignoring others? Most importantly, how can you nurture these relationships in a beneficial way to advance your career?

For most part, the rules in the real world should work in the virtual world, too. For social networking sites, it is important to follow up on the contacts that you have built.

Easy Networking

Though networking sites make it easy to connect with different people, adding contacts on your online networking site is only the first step in effective networking. It is just like getting a business card at a formal party - you have to follow up and keep in touch with your contacts.

Making valuable contacts and then letting them drop is one of the biggest mistakes that you can make.

Maintaining Identities

If you prefer that your boss doesn’t find out about several aspects of your personal life, then it is possible and preferable that you separate your work life from your virtual personal life. This can be done on almost any of the social networking sites today.

You can let your boss know that you are setting up a dedicated page for professional contacts, and can ask him to be added as a friend there. This should be done in a gracious manner, but you should take care to keep this page separate from your personal page.

Invitations and Recommendations

At times, you might receive an invitation from someone you don’t really relate to. It is not necessary to reject them right away - this could be seen as being rude. You can accept the invitation, but take no further action. You do not need to endorse that particular person.

You should use social networking sites to strengthen ties with your business associates by garnering recommendations from them, and by posting referrals for them.

Confidentiality

Always know your company’s policy. You don’t want to post or mention something on the site that is a company secret without realizing it. Many companies conduct searches on the Internet and monitor blog posts, so always take care with what you post online. Nothing meant for internal correspondence or anything that your company believes can harm their business prospects should be visible on your networking page.

Apart from this, you should also be extremely careful when posting pictures online. No photos that might show you in an embarrassing situation, or relating to nudity or drug use should be posted on your networking page. You should also refrain from posting material that may be politically incorrect.

Your idea is to increase your business prospects, and not make personality statements. Stick to your goal when using social networking sites, and your career will benefit.

By Craig S. Andrews

Article Submission Software is probably the most utilized article-marketing tool of every top marketer. It doesn’t matter what profession or business you are involved in. Any Internet business, whether it’s a mom and pop operation, an affiliate home based business, or selling sophisticated computer equipment should make it their number one priority to use article submission software as their essential source for promotion of any Website, service, or product.

Article submission software is a powerful solution to creating more consistent pre-targeted traffic, driving higher search engine rankings, and ultimately generating more sales. Article submission software takes the pain out of manually submitting articles saving you valuable time.

Let’s take a look at the top 7 reasons article submission software is essential to your site promotion success.

1. Article Submission Software Drive More Pre-Sold Targeted Traffic

Article submission software provides instant traffic to your site. Once your article is published, people who are highly interested in your topic will flock to your site after clicking on the link you provide in your resource or bio box at the end of your article. Keep in mind your articles need to be interesting and chock full of useful information. Your readers need to be persuaded that you are an expert in your field.

2. Article Submission Software Create More Back Links

As your articles are submitted and published deep throughout the Internet your resource box or bio box at the end of your article is your vital link back to your site. Article submission software can do a much better job at submitting more articles than you could ever accomplish manually. Therefore, the more articles you have published, the more back links you are going to generate.

3. Article Submission Software Improves Your Search Engine Ranking

As previously mentioned, the more back links we have to our site give search engines a nice warm and fuzzy feeling. Link popularity of your Website is a major building block to higher search engine ranking. Keep submitting articles on a regular basis and you will keep building back links from the free organic traffic visiting your Website through search engine listings. The higher your ranking, the more traffic you should receive and the more conversions to sales are your ultimate reward.

4. Article Submission Software Creates More Sales

The first three benefits mentioned above relating to article submission software is the perfect foundation to generating more sales. More traffic, more back links, and higher rankings. Naturally, you need to have a valued product or service, and your sales page or landing page needs to be optimized with quality copywriting that will covert your pre-targeted visitors into a singing cashbox.

5. Article Submission Software Saves Valuable Time

Manually submitting articles to hundreds or even thousands of directories, ezines, niche publishers, or newsletters can take an unbelievable amount time. Each article directory is different and your articles need to be custom formatted for each site. There are not enough days in the week to effectively manage a manual submission campaign. Article submission software will make your complete article marketing process a snap.

6. Article Submission Software Can Save You A Lot Of Money

If you are currently using an article submission service, you know that it can be pretty expensive. Using a service of this type can be a real profit margin killer especially if the product or service you are promoting has a marginal profit margin to start. Article submission software can competitively perform the same operations for a fraction of the overall long-term costs. Using a service entails reoccurring expenses while purchasing article submission software is a one-time cost.

7. Article Submission Software Forms Your Credibility

As you submit more and more articles, you will eventually build a name for yourself. People that read your articles will get to know you better and will develop a mental picture of your integrity. Through article submissions you can establish yourself as an expert in your field and begin to develop your credibility. As your readers get to know you and trust you, you will then posses the online influence of your readers to convert them into dedicated paying customers.

In summary, article submission software is an essential tool to your site promotion. It is a fantastic way to boost your presence and sales. Don’t be without it. I also want to mention that there are a few other key elements that are critical to a successful article submission campaign, and they must be implemented properly which I will cover in a future article.

Website popularity remains one of the most important criteria for determining page rank. As a result, anything you can do to make it look like a large number of websites reference yours is bound to improve your ranking. Once your website is ready for public viewing, you will want to increase traffic as quickly as possible, as well as advance your rank in the search engines. Because social bookmarking sites are dedicated to making it easy for people to find websites, they can help you generate the kind of backlinks that will achieve both goals.

As may be expected, when you post your own webpage on a social bookmarking site, it will create one backlink. If you post your site on a large number of social bookmarking platforms, it will generate one backlink per site. Because many surfers prefer to look for sites through bookmarking services, you should see an immediate increase in traffic. As may be expected, appropriately categorized bookmarks will be more reputable, and garner more attention than ones that are not.

If web surfers find interesting content on your site, they may decide to reference it on their own pages, or even in their blogs. In this way, your website can gain more popularity than it would if people were simply trying to locate your site in a search engine. Once your site gradually gains more popularity, individuals should be able to easily find it on both bookmarking sites and in traditional search engines - resulting in increased traffic!

It’s useless to define the term: everyone knows what a blog is. And if they don’t, there are plenty of definitions online, from the simple “online journal” to more philosophical, thought provoking, puzzling definitions.

From a corporate perspective a blog is a marketing tool. From the perspective of a citizen journalist… the blog is a dialogue tool. A freelance writer will use the blogging platform as a self-publishing tool.

There are different reasons for a blog to come into existence, but all aim success and social recognition (meaning acceptance and popularity within social media communities).

Publishing a successful blog is not an easy task for those with less experience in the fine art of dialoguing. A blog is a tool that enables its administrator or writer to share personal thoughts and information while engaging the readers into a virtual conversation.

To publish a successful blog you have to know your readers, understand their needs and live up to their expectations. Blogs are dynamic constructions. They need constant updating. If the conversation stagnates, your blog might become a ruin.

If you compare a blog to a traditional website you’ll note that, although easier to publish and “enhance” (update with fresh content), it requires more work. This is a living entity: it requires care, attention, nurturing. The social networking portals are “water for life”. You’ll have to connect with other bloggers, exchange ideas, ask questions, learn about widgets and other tools to enhance your construction, help them building up their own blogs and networks: a constant cooperation, especially between blogs within the same niche, is the key to publishing a successful blog. There are some strategic procedures that will help you make the best out of your blog:

- Leave meaningful comments on the blogs you like. Be polite and respectful. Treat others, as you would like them to treat you. Comments are a strategic foundation for building up strong reader-author relationships.

- Build up a solid community by joining social networking sites like mybloglog or spicypage. This is not so easy as it seems. To build up this community you’ll need to take your time, browse the member blogs and contact their authors. The contact should never sound like: “Hi, loved your blog. Visit mine”. Try to make a smarter comment. Pinch an entry and underline what you liked about it. This will show to the author that you actually mean what you say.

- Participate in meme games. Carry on the conversation and spread link love. Don’t be afraid to link to other blogs just to protect your Google PageRanks. If you didn’t know it by now, Google likes outbound links and if they are relevant for the content of a post you might even rank higher in the Google SERPs (this is rather complicated to explain, but take my word for it).

- Always put your readers first. Try to offer something unique, of real value every now and then. An idea. A tip. Publish an ebook and offer it free. This is how successful bloggers build strong relationships with their readers. Follow these basic rules and you’ll soon be the publisher of a successful blog. And remember: it’s all about the people!

A. Aim to be a better blogger every day. Always try to learn something different and new. Here is a great site that will help you build your site by personally developing yourself along with your blog. Either you keep up with the times/technology or your blog will eventually fade into the black-hole of the blogosphere and be but a forgotten memory.

B. Be yourself! Don’t try to be someone that you’re not. People will see right through it. Readers of your blog will be able to connect easier and relate to you in many ways. Being yourself lets the readers know that you are sincere and helpful at the same time. Your personality will show through your blogging and the people will love you for just being yourself!

C. Caring about what you blog will make you a more sincere blogger to your cause. Whether it may be helping people with HTML or fixing cars, you will be able to write better articles and will be knowledgeable in your field.

D. Don’t ever copy anyone else’s works on the net. Plagiarism is frowned upon and you will never live it down if you are found to have copied another person’s works. Not only that but you might find yourself in a legal battle that you don’t need.

E. Entertain your readers! Entertaining your readers with great articles, tips and free stuff will always keep them coming back for more. People love a site they can have fun with and learn at the same time. Use your imagination, when we were kids we were able to do anything right (at least in our minds)? That imagination will help connect you to your inner-self and let you grow freely with your blog.

F. Find your niche carefully. Finding a niche where you fit in is critical as this will help you as a starting blogger. Your knowledge of course will depend on your experiences and how much you care to expand your knowledge of that subject. We are all experts in our field, but can still master new ways of approaching problems and fixing them.

G. Great articles. Great articles are the gateway to your massive traffic building. Write great authoritative articles and share information with your readers. They in turn will keep coming back for your advice and share their information with you that they think might help you.

H. Help out new bloggers. Helping out new bloggers and inexperienced persons will build you great character. Your readers will know deep down in their hearts that you are willing to take time to help them and are once again, sincere about it. Helping out other people also makes a world of difference; you might even need help from one of them in the future!

I. Implement all the learning and plans that you have made for your blog. Find that “master plan”, gather all the advice you have read and tips given to you and IMPLEMENT them. If you don’t your success rate will drop dramatically.

J. Join articles submission sites. If you are a great writer, let the world know about it. Submitting to article submission sites will drive massive traffic to your site and earn you a reputation as a knowledgeable author in your field. Use sites like EzineArticles, Stumble and the other directories.

K. Knowledge on the blogosphere. Keep up to date with your knowledge from the blogosphere. Always find new methods that will save you time and money. Know how to work with all the aspects of blogging, from traffic building, readership, RSS feeds, link building etc.

L. Limitations are nothing on the web. There are no limitations on the web. You can always get help from other like minded individuals and experts in your field. If you don’t know how to do something, just ask. Most bloggers are willing to help you or will point you in the right direction. Link building is one of those areas where there are no limitations, with over 50 million sites and more being made everyday, there are no shortages of links!

M. Make friends with the top-bloggers. Making friends with the popular bloggers will help you get an inner perspective on their workings and how they achieve the things they did with their blog. Brainstorming with these experts gives you a lot of advantages and in time maybe you can contribute to their sites also, earning you authority and links for your own site! Imagine what ideas you could come up with if you had Steve Pavlina and Darren Rowse (just to name a few) in your corner.

N. Network with as many people as you can. Even if the person you are networking with is just beginning their blog, they might eventually become a PR 5 or higher blog. Networking is a great way to increase your rankings and PR for your blog. Networking can be done “on” and “off” line.

O. Offer great tips, free advice and other free stuff that your users/readers will be able to take with them and that makes a difference to them. Offering material that they cannot get from another site will have you one up on the other sites. They will love you for it and as a bonus come back often to see what they can get again.

P. Page rank. Your page rank will not increase unless you have useful links, hundreds and/or thousands of them pointing to your page. Page rank can be obtained by having an informative blog. A blog where people can keep coming back for more and refer other people to your site. Page rank should come second to writing great articles for your readers. Always put your readers first, PR will come eventually if you have a great blog.

Q. Question everything about your blog. Are you using an easy layout that people can easily navigate through? Is your color scheme easy on the eyes and not blinding people or make people wonder what happened to the text when they scroll through your site. Are all your links working? Is ad placement optimal, if that’s the way you’re going with your blog. There are many aspects to blogging that you must always question to yourself.

R. Read other peoples blogs! Reading other peoples blogs will increase your knowledge and you might learn something that you didn’t know before. Reading also gives you great ideas, maybe you can out-do someone or write an even better article on the subject. Reading forums, how to’s and personal development sites are a great way to answer some of your questions also.

S. Special style of your blog. You got to have your own style. That’s what makes your blog unique. Your writing style and layout of your page will be remembered easier by people if it’s not in the “norm” of other bloggers. Have a great looking graphic on your home page, write with passion and sincerity. Great first impressions last a long time. Slim-lining your blog will also create a more user friendly site and get rid of the stuff that just clutters your site making for a more eye-pleasing site.

T. Tools and training. Suggest web tools like SiteMeter and Google Web Tools etc. that users can use for free when checking their links, traffic, ranking or site building. Train other people in your field that are just getting started. You will have a loyal following and can do site sessions/reviews of each others’ blogs on what needs to be overhauled with blogs, what can be done better and so forth. As you are the more experienced person in your group, you will be responsible for being a leader to the others.

U. Understand the needs of your readers. Understanding the needs and what they crave will help you to build a better site for your readers. User friendly, easy to navigate pages and TONS of informative articles will do wonders for your blog! Understanding your readers will also help to maintain your reader author relationship in the long run and you will have loyal subscribers that keep coming back. Don’t be afraid to ask your readers what they want more of.

V. Verify all sources used in article writing. Verifying your sources will help you keep from “looking like a fool” and “looking like a liar”. Be sure of your sources first before publishing your article. No one likes to read one thing and it turns out to be the total opposite of what you published! Author expertise is a must for blogging. If you are not sure about it, don’t even publish it.

W. Who, what, where, when and why. Ok, I’m having a 6th grade flashback to my English creative writing labs, oh no! Actually, these are the 5 points that you should cover for any article written by you. If there is anything that pertains to these 5 points about the subject you are covering, then you should include it in your article. This basic guideline will help you also cover the basics of the articles, insert your interesting facts after the basics are done!

X. X-ray your blog. Yep, that’s exactly what I suggested. Just like we use x-rays to find broken bones in our body, x-raying your blog is just taking time out to find broken links and URL’s that don’t work. Nothing is more frustrating than clicking a link and going nowhere! It only takes a little time, but will show your readers that great care goes into your blog maintenance.

Y. Your blog is your soul. What you write about will give people/readers their personal assessment of you. It’s like meeting a complete stranger through your blog and seeing if you can connect with that person. Have an outstanding and caring blog, and the people will come back.

Z. “Zone” out in a place where you can get ideas. Zoning out can be daydreaming, or just sitting by yourself with a pad and pen and writing/jotting down ideas or articles you would like to incorporate into your blog. The best ideas come to us when we have no distractions and our minds are free to flow with ideas and imagination!

By following this list, you will have an alliance when Traffic Building, SEO (Search Eng!ne Optimization), Article Writing, PR (Page Rank) building and Monetizing. Just follow these tips and they will open doors to the above mentioned site elements that will help you achieve your goals. I wish you the best success! http://www.moonburst-tones.blogspot.com

Social bookmarking sites generally organize their content using tags. Social bookmarking sites are an increasingly popular way to locate, classify, rank, and share Internet resources through the practice of tagging and inferences drawn from grouping and analysis of tags.

History

The concept of shared online bookmarking dates back to April 1996 with the launch of itList.com. Within the next three years online bookmark services became competitive, with venture-backed companies like Backflip, Blink,[citation needed] Clip2, Hotlinks, Quiver, and others entering the market. Lacking viable models for making money, most of this early generation of social bookmarking companies failed as the dot-com bubble burst. The contemporary concepts of social bookmarking and tagging took root with the launch of the web site oneview in 1999[1] and del.icio.us, in September of 2003.

Functional Overview

In a social bookmarking system, users store lists of Internet resources, which they find useful. Often, these lists are publicly accessible, and other people with similar interests can view the links by category, tags, or even randomly. Some social bookmarking systems allow for privacy on a per-bookmark basis.

They also categorize their resources by the use of informally assigned, user-defined keywords or tags (see folksonomy). Most social bookmarking services allow users to search for bookmarks which are associated with given “tags”, and rank the resources by the number of users which have bookmarked them. Many social bookmarking services also have implemented algorithms to draw inferences from the tag keywords that are assigned to resources by examining the clustering of particular keywords, and the relation of keywords to one another.

Advantages

This system has several advantages over traditional automated resource location and classification software, such as search engine spiders. All tag-based classification of Internet resources (such as web sites) is done by human beings, who understand the content of the resource, as opposed to software which algorithmically attempts to determine the meaning of a resource. This provides for semantically classified tags, which are hard to find with contemporary search engines.

Additionally, as people bookmark resources that they find useful, resources that are of more use are bookmarked by more users. Thus, such a system will “rank” a resource based on its perceived utility. This is arguably a more useful metric for end users than other systems which rank resources based on the number of external links pointing to it.

Automatic Notification

Since the classification and ranking of resources is a continuously evolving process, many social bookmarking services allow users to subscribe to syndication feeds (see RSS) based on tags, or collection of tag terms. This allows subscribers to become aware of new resources for a given topic, as they are noted, tagged, and classified by other users.

Disadvantages

There are drawbacks to such tag-based systems as well: no standard set of keywords (also known as controlled vocabulary), no standard for the structure of such tags (e.g. singular vs. plural, capitalization, etc.), mistagging due to spelling errors, tags that can have more than one meaning, unclear tags due to synonym/antonym confusion, highly unorthodox and “personalized” tag schemas from some users, and no mechanism for users to indicate hierarchical relationships between tags (e.g. a site might be labeled as both cheese and cheddar, with no mechanism that might indicate that cheddar is a refinement or sub-class of cheese).

The separate (but related) tagging and social bookmarking services are, however, evolving rapidly, and these shortcomings could possibly be addressed in the near future.

Really Simple Syndication or RSS to a lot of people is a common mechanism used by many website owners and administrators to capture good traffic from potential visitors. Just as it a good marketing and promotional mechanism, making it as effective as it is substantial. Below are some of the ways on how you can excel in RSS:

1. Determine your targeted market. This is going to be necessary because you will be able to appropriately determine the right kind of sites that you can promote for your potential readers and visitors.

2. You can position and publish your web contents on some other related sites to make it more appealing thus producing more and more possible traffic.

3. Make sure that what you give your readers is something that is worthy of their time and attention. Web contents that are highly reliable and useful are deemed essential and beneficial. Stick with these kinds of content materials and you will never go wrong with your RSS mechanism.

4. If you are not sure about how and what sorts of things are necessary in order to perform the whole process of RSS, educate yourself first and do not pretend that you know all things.

5. When done with the RSS feeds you may want to have these feeds submitted to a more reputable and established aggregators. These well established aggregators would be a lot easier to locate and find rather than the not so familiar ones.

6. Be imaginative and innovative. You can include multimedia elements like graphics, moving objects, colorful texts to add up in the creativity of your RSS feeds.

7. Develop a content that is keyword-bound. The keywords on your content are essential elements that search engines are very sensitive about. When search engines are able to locate related keywords on your content, it makes the whole thing positively impacting.

To say Youtube has become popular in recent years would be the understatement of the century. Who would have thought an online collection of audio and video clips would literally revolutionize the way we view the internet? Yes, YouTube remains a symbol of old fashioned creative thinking and entrepreneurial thought at its best. Now, while YouTube provides a great resource for entertainment it is also a fine source for information and promotion as well. In fact, YouTube could provide an excellent method of driving traffic to your blog.

One method of promoting your blog via YouTube would be to upload clips of video related to your blog’s subject matter. For example, if you operate a cooking blog, a fun short clip of you cooking something could be posted on Youtube. This way when people search for “cooking” on YouTube they may discover your clip and then, in turn, discover your blog. How do they discover your blog via the clip? You add your blog’s URL as a graphic to the Youtube clip.

One mistake people make when using video clips to promote a blog address, however, is that they wait until the end of the video clip to bring up the graphic with the blog’s URL. This is a mistake becomes sometimes people don’t make it to the end. Because of this it is much better idea to have a “slag” of the URL written as a signature in at the bottom of the frame so that people know that the video is sponsored by a particular blog if they wish to learn more about the blog to visit the prominently displayed URL.

Now, some people may wonder what they can do if they do not have skills in creating video? Another method would be to read the text from a blog entry to a particular moving image or still picture or series of still pictures. Many Youtube clips are audio only and virtually all computers come with a function for recording audio as an MP3 file, It is suggested that the person reading the entry has somewhat of a “radio voice” as delivery is everything in such a promotional attempt. A droning or dull voice will drive people away rather quickly. But, a well read audio clip may drive a ton of traffic to your blog!

Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary to some others is one of the fastest growing marketing tools in the online arena these days. This is a better way of informing your potential and targeted visitors for any updates that your website is having. Below are some of the effective ways you can successfully do your Rich Site Summary:

1. Make sure that you frequently update your website to make sure that your targeted clients will be enticed to pay your site a visit. The more updates that you bring into your site, the more curiosity it brings into the end of the client, the higher the chance to be getting a visit.

2. Create an RSS feed that is very appealing to your targeted visitors. You can do this by putting some mysterious and hanging statements that will make the RSS feed reader wonder about what you exactly mean. This curiosity will then possibly lead to a site visit.

3. You can use your RSS feeds to make promulgations about any recent happenings or events on your website. When these feeds become auto-updated on your targeted clients’ end, then you can potentially make an upsell.

4. You can inject audio feeds on your RSS. The injection of audio files on your RSS feeds will make it more innovative and appealing. This is something that is revolutionary and one of a kind.

5. One of the fastest growing trends in RSS feeds is the embedding of videos on it. Again, this is yet another milestone is the field of RSS. The usage of RSS video feeds is something bolder and experimental.

6. Create a good title for your RSS feeds. Create something that is very eye-catching and attractive. Remember, the main attraction of your RSS feeds is set initially at the title. So take advantage of this.

7. Be an all original RSS feeder. Plagiarism should never be a part of your system. At all times, you need to make sure that your RSS feeds are not copied and they come from your own.

I’m not the first one to chime in on this topic, mostly because I’ve gone both ways and I can make pretty valid arguments from either side. But I’ve finally settled it in my mind which is “best”.
Full RSS feeds are better than summary feeds.

Why?

I can answer that only from the perspective of a skimmer and scanner.

When I browse through my RSS feeds, I’m first looking for titles that draw my interest. If your title doesn’t make me want to read I scroll right past it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you have a bad title, not every title is going to make everybody want to read. There are just a lot of things that I don’t care about and many feeds I read don’t always have posts that strike my particular fancy.

Once I see a title that makes me think I might want to read on, well, then I start skimming through the post. I might read a few of the first sentences and then start skipping down to link text, headings, boldings, and use those to create a judgment of whether I should take time to actually read the full post.

Summaries don’t have eye appeal

What? Your summary feed doesn’t have headings, boldings, bullets or anything else that catches my eye? Well, you better hope that your first few sentences really grab me. And I mean I really have to be convinced to click through. It’s a mental thing really. I don’t mind clicking if I know I want to read something, but not if I just think I might want to read it. The summary may be partially convincing, but not totally. I’m then forced to move away from my primary screen to another screen because I think I might be interested. You’re making me think to hard.

Countless times, after reading a summary, I’ve been on the edge. I think I’m interested, but not entirely sure. Do I click or do I keep scanning available blog posts. Sometimes I opt for the former, wishing I opted for the latter. Now, more times than not, now, I opt for the latter. If the summary isn’t entirely convincing I won’t click.

It’s a shame really because there are probably some decent insights in there somewhere. But you hid them all behind a not-so-telling summary. Or heck, maybe your summary was dead on and your information just isn’t my cup of tea… if you had a full feed I still might have gleaned a little something of value from your insight.

Are you missing anything by providing a full feed? Sure, you got the click, right? Your traffic numbers go up and maybe you can sell your ad space for a few cents more this month from last… but there is not always value in it for me, which means there is often no real value in it for you.

Do you want to be read or do you want to be visited? Do you want people to hear what you have to say or do you just want your page numbers to go up? Do your yourself a favor, provide a full feed. You’ll be less likely to lose subscribers and you’ll definitely gain more readers.
