Just as Facebook unleashes its Facebook Connect program that ties the site in with any other site who wants to be involved, some virus has to come along and rain on the parade. The Koobface virus, which has in actuality been around for the majority of the year, is not directly related to Facebook Connect, but casts a shadow of vulnerability on Facebook in general.

It has been quite the day for connecting. Not only did Facebook unleash Facebook Connect on the world, but Google has also now made Google Friend Connect available (in beta) as well.

Friend Connect is basically a way to make your own site more social via a service from Google. By using the service, you are allowing people to socialize within your site using accounts they have already established from other parties (including Google itself).

Facebook has just announced the general availability of Facebook Connect, its new service that allows users to login to other sites using their Facebook IDs and share there activities from these third-party sites with their Facebook friends.

The service, "makes it easier for Facebook’s 130 million users to tap into the social graph by extending their Facebook experience to any participating Website, desktop application or mobile device," a Facebook representative tells WebProNews.

MySpace users with mobile phones are about to find out if they can walk and watch TV at the same time. On Wednesday, News Corp’s online social network will make video clips from its members’ pages available for viewing on mobile devices including the BlackBerry Bold, Palm Centro, Motorola Q9, LG Voyager, Nokia N95 and Samsung Instinct. Members will be able to look at video on their own homepages as well as friends’ pages. The free service will be supported by advertising.

MySpace announced today that it is launching video content for mobile users in beta globally and says it is the first social portal to offer streaming video for mobile.

Amy Walgenbach, MySpace Manager of Communications, told WebProNews that, "Users are increasingly interested in portability and on-the-go access to content, so video is the natural next step for us in mobile."
