SEO For A New Website Or Blog

By Mark J White

You have launched a new website or a blog now you are looking for getting traffic on to your website. The biggest source of traffic is the Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Msn, AltaVista etc.

These Search Engines have become quite smart for the last several years and now it’s not all that easy to fool the technology by link stuffing or similar Techniques. However, if you are serious about this then over a period of time which could be from 5 to 6 months you could bring your website up at a competitive position in these search engines. However, the question arises for the newbie’s where to begin. Well once you have acquired a website or created a website or blog follow these steps;

1)         Submit your website or Blog:

After creating the website your next target should be to submit that website to all the major search engines and web directories. The must submit websites include Google, Yahoo, Msn, Technorati, Alltheweb etc. The process is fairly easy, similar to filling any from. If you can create an email then surely you can very easily submit your websites and blogs.

2)         Verify your websites:

Verification and submission of the website or blog are two different things for some search engines. Like if you are going to verify your blog or website to Google then what is required is for you to have a Gmail Mail Account and then you have to login to “Google Webmaster Central” and there you will find the tools and instruction required to submit the website. Similarly follow the easy instructions on the Technorati and Yahoo to complete the procedure.

3)         Quality and Frequency of Content:

Now the next step that is required is to keep the content of your website fresh. Keep updating your website as much as you can. In such a competitive age you need to update your website twice or three times a day at times. The more fresh content you will feed the more trust you’ll gain from Search Engine’s point of view.

The Second step in this was to provide quality content. Search Engine Optimization or SEO not only refers to the doing things for the Search Engine. On the contrary you need to provide quality content to your visitors too so that they could keep coming back to your websites or Blog.

4)         Building Links:

On frequent basis you have to build links with other websites who are dealing with the same topic as yours. This Back links process actually is a sort of voting system by other websites that this website is worthy enough to link to as it contains useful information.

Now these are the first few beginners’ steps you need to start doing as frequently as you can if you want to optimize your website for the Search Engines. In this article I have highlighted a few broader points which are the decisive factors for a website to rank well in a website.

In my next article I would be writing more about each and every factor in detail so that all the beginners should start focusing on all the steps same as the SEO PRO are doing.

If you don’t already know how, one method is to search for  your domain name make sure you enter the entire URL. The results will show all of the links that Google has indexed for your site. How Does Linking Affect My Page Rank?

By Graham Andrew Taylor

Linking is one of the biggest factors in any search engine marketing strategy. In fact, you are better off spending your time acquiring inbound links than submitting your site to search engines.

Linking is not only about search engines and make sure to remember that, It adds relevance and value to your site because it show your reader that you have considered the subject and either agree or disagree with others in your field. Linking in this manner is more or less similar to placing references to other people’s work.

In fact, it has been argued that by placing their materials on the Internet (without stating expressly their objection to external links), copyright owners grant ‘implied licenses to other users to link to them. As the founder of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee points out, there is no reason to have to ask for permission to link to other documents. Sites still need back links to rank high in SERP. (A search engine results page, or SERP, is the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query.)

A major method of rapid link development for Search Engine optimization or website promotion services,is buying quality links. This is a very expensive method and I don’t recommend it unless you have very deep pockets. However you may have no alternative for building fast quality links unless you can offer high value information on your website so that people will not mind adding a link to your site.

Search engines, particularly Google, use link popularity to help evaluate and rank your website. Link popularity refers to the number, quality and relevance of inbound links from other websites to yours. they recognize the number of incoming links in its algorithm that determines placement rankings, they also look for quality Eg. page rank, the more links a website has the better, but the quality I think is more important than the amount. which may explain why you may appear on page 10 while your competitor appears on page 1. The more page rank a linking page has the more authority it lends to you If you use a reciprocal linking service you are probably wasting your time, the sites that you are linked too are from too wide a range of subjects to have any relevance or authority.

Another factor to consider is deep linking, where the in coming link goes directly to an internal page rather than your home page. For example you may have an article that is on yoursite .com /articles/ happydays.html A link from an outside site direct to that page would be deep linking as it is on the third layer of your site. Deep linking is good for your site as the overall page rank takes into account not only the links to your home page but also the total links to the site.

Google has become skilled at detecting un-natural linking patterns; links to a website whose only purpose is to improve Google ranking. Because of this many SEO experts are going back to fundamentals and using techniques like article writing to develop natural links What is a natural link ? It is a link that originates from an outside site that is one way, and has a page rank to give it authority. If you build enough quality and relevant links to your site you’re site will still have traffic before, during, and after algorithm changes.

Article Marketing and Automatic Article Submission Services

By Lance Winslow

Some online article marketers use Automatic Article Submission Services to post authors’ articles to many online article submission sites. Does this make sense? Well yes and no. Yes because it allows the author to concentrate on creating rather than posting at many sites and NO, because if the online article marketer simply will find one really good online article submission site and then post their for free then those articles will go out RSS or Real Simple Syndication around the Internet.
