There is a limit as to how far you can optimise the text on a page. While good quality inbound links to a webpage has no upper range limit, the number of texts you have on a page and the number of keywords you place on a page can only go so far before it stops helping and starts harming your search engine rank and spoiling the look of the page.

The spam probability of a page’s keyword density is determined using statistical functions by finding the normal distribution of the keyword on webpages. The normal distribution of a particular set of keywords amongst all webpages that use those keywords will determine the webpages that are flagged as spam and webpages that are not. The number of keywords that appear on a page has to be approximately normal against all webpages with that keyword. However, the distribution of the keyword in the same website does not need to be of that same normal. In other words, it has to correspond to a bell curve.

But using valid markup, and using common sence on page optimisation such as correct usage of meta data is still important in SEM. Some people practice search engine optimisation without regard to aesthetics and their content pages, products pages and static pages are mostly just lists of keywords. In the extreme cases it will eventually result in a spam flag if it falls significantly out of the range of normal distribution. Sometimes clients who are unable to produce content for content pages send in a list of keywords and join them together into non-sensical but grammatical sentences. Even if such textual content passes a spam test, a customer that sees such a page will be less likely to buy a product from such a site if they enter that site through such a page because no one likes websites that spam. Traffic generated from spammy seo will not convert into sales.

Classic and safe on page improvements for internet marketing include…

Heading tags: Use headings in the right places for primary keywords. You can improve the appearance of headings using CSS to blend it more gracefully to the rest of the page.

Title and meta tags: Use title and meta tags to place the webpage’s primary keywords. The navigation should also have keywords used in anchor text. However the meta tags need to be different for every page otherwise, by the very definition of meta, pages with exactly the same meta data will be flagged duplicate.

In long pages, break the page up into groups and subgroups using a corresponding heading level such as 1, 1.1, and 1.1.1. Make sure to use paragraph tags instead of line breaks or divisions. If the paragraph is very short then that is the only situation when it is OK to bold or italic the entire paragraph.

Placing all content within heading tags is spam. Only use headings where appropriate. Headings should also not be bolded because they are already bold by default. This is similarly so for keywords used throughout the page.

Some SEO companies like to divide the page in such a way that the body text appears before the navigation links so that all the content appears before the navigation at the top of the page. However the effect of this is small and it is more important in practice to make sure that keywords appear normally in the order of the words used in actual content of the page instead of spending time on the visual layout of the page. http://www.b-1st.com/internet-marketing/operating-procedure.htm

Search engine optimization is no longer confined to link building and creating search engine friendly pages. Today search engine optimization requires a more holistic and complete approach, one of the most important components of search engine optimization today is content. Google and other search engines have already hinted at the importance of content, and its not uncommon for sites with better content but lower page rank, to outrank sites that have higher page rank but lower content.

It is important for webmasters to use content to their advantage; the first place where content has to be optimized is on the website itself. Web content is constantly indexed by all search engines, and the content on any website is what decides the popularity of the site with search engines. The most important aspect of optimizing web content is keyword density. An ideal site should have the targeted keyword density close to 5%. Although there are various schools of thought regarding the keyword density that a site should have to make it effective, the truth is that keyword density is important for optimizing a website.

Apart from the keyword density of your content, another thing that makes a difference is on page optimization of the content, essentially which text is bold, underlined or is H1. Google and other search engines recognize content by not just keyword density, the placement of the position and properties of the content are also equally important. If you are looking to optimize or market a site, the first thing you need to do is work on the content of the site to make it search engine friendly.

In addition to making the content on your site search engine friendly, you should also look to use other avenues like articles, press releases and other avenues where content is key. One of the most popular ways of using content for search engine optimization is article writing, articles are designed to be non-promotional in nature, and the chances of an article being accepted increase manifold if there are just a few (if not no) links within the article. Article submission sites have already started cracking down on spam users, and for an article to be accepted on any article site, all internet copywriting firms have started concentrating on writing quality articles first and optimizing them later.

Another great place to start optimizing a site textually is to write a press release, unlike articles, press releases are designed to be promotional in nature and no one cracks down on a press release for being full of links. In fact press release writing is one of the simplest ways to promote a site without worrying about infringing on any rules, the only thing to remember is that just like articles, for a press release to be accepted on news and article sites, it must be properly written.

If you are looking for [http://www.doxoindia.com]search engine optimization services, make sure the search engine optimization firm is aware of the various ways in which a site can be optimized by using content.

What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization)?

In a nutshell, SEO is “All of the techniques used to get your site noticed and indexed on all of the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN”.

Why is SEO so important?

The number one way in which people find websites is through search engines, so achieving a high ranking in your keywords (typically the first page or 1-10 in the engine) is the best way to drive traffic to your site. With a quality ranking, the investment is invaluable, it is much like “free” advertising 24/7/365.

How can you become SEO friendly?

Although the methods of SEO is virtually endless, here are some of the most important factors of getting that top-spot.

Domain age - Search engines love a seasoned site, one that has been around for several years and proves to be beneficial for the users.

Relevant, clean, new content - You need to make sure your site has fresh content and is updated regularly. The search engines like this and so do your visitors.

No Flash - Flash is a great multimedia tool but is typically frowned upon for SEO, the text and content within the Flash piece cannot be seen by search engines, thus it cannot be implemented into your SEO progress. A major downer is having a flash intro, a flash intro page acts as a barrier between the main page and the rest of the content that lies within your site.

Meta tags - Meta tags are invisible tags that are used by search engines to categorize your content.

Heading tags - Heading tags (h1) should be used on the headline or most important and relevant factor of your page heading tags should also be used on the keywords which you think users will be searching for that will lead to your site.

Site maps - Site maps is a link by link breakdown of your site. They help search engine “spiders” navigate through your site and index each individual page.

What not to do for SEO

Keyword Stuffing - Keyword stuffing is jam packing your content with your main keywords to the point that your content no longer makes sense.

Invisible content - Invisible content that is not intended for users to see but used to fill your page with keywords will quickly put you on a search engine’s bad side.

Too many h1 tags

Link farms - Link farms are basically individual pages with numerous links to other sites.

Over doing any of the what not to do can result in your site being “sandboxed” which will exclude your site from the search engine altogether. Being “sandboxed” may last forever, years or months.

How long will a good ranking take? [http://www.revivedmedia.com/seo.php]SEO is a very time-dependent practice. Even if you practice good SEO techniques, don’t expect results for up to 6 months or even more. Be patient and the investment will pay off greatly.

Your investment will pay off

Although the exact ROI of your SEO services is virtually incalculable due to its lengthy timeframe, experts agree that [http://www.revivedmedia.com/seo.php]SEO is the most cost-effective marketing strategy if done correctly.

To get quality results without any personal time dedicated into your SEO operations, consider hiring a qualified SEO firm such as [http://www.revivedmedia.com/]Revived Media to handle the task.

Keywords to images are just as important in your Search Engine Optimization process as keywords to content. Many forget about images, thinking only textually when considering the Search Engine Optimization process.

Image to Keyword Marriage

When you think of images and websites- you may assume as many that the purpose of an image is to add a little aesthetic beauty to your site. It can and it does, but images can do much more.

Labeling your Images

If you have a catalog or Ecommerce site it can identity the product or service to the visitor and to the search engine. With the proper label the visitor can, of course, identify what the product is, as can a search engine. But you should also identify your image within your coding as well.

With proper labeling of your images with the “alt” tag, along with a visual front-end caption you will give yourself a better chance of getting your images/content indexed by the search engines.

Thumbnails

If you do have a lot of pictures, it is also wise to use thumbnails where possible. This will help to speed up your load time, for those with slower Internet connections. On the Internet, people seem to be a little more in a hurry-and will not hesitate to click the mouse to move on to another site.

In fact, some directory sites are becoming more image-based, giving the person an image to look at, before sending them to the site.

Note: Be aware that there are image-based robots that can hit your site. Their purpose may be to scrape your site of images, and while doing so, steal your bandwidth. If you find a strange robot hitting your site, it is always wise to do a Google search on the robot in question. If the robot has any scruples at all, they will have a website stating who they are, what they are doing, and if their robots are not behaving to your liking, how you can stop their robot from visiting.

Accessibility

Here is another reason for identifying your images-through alt tags, captions and labels- it’s called accessibility. It is not only the sighted that will view your site, but the unsighted as well.

For example, some of the software used by blind individuals are, Text-to-speech software. And, the text-to-speech software does utilize “alt tag” for images, as well as properly named links. So, if you’re not utilizing the alt tag, you’re missing out on a ready market.

To conclude, images can be asset to your site, not only giving you the aesthetic look that you want, but also helping you to reach a large visitor base, and just as importantly, making your image site search engine friendly.

Ranking number one across all these three major search engines requires a lot of hard work and money. Often a large marketing budget is needed and an SEO specialist is employed, but there are ways you can rank number one with out this. Google is the hardest of the three to rank well in, msn second and yahoo third.

Google is the most accurate search engine in determining which sites are strong and ranking them better. Often you need a combination of high authority page rank seven and six links to rank first for a popular keyword. This requires a combination of link exchange and directory submissions. Although it remains hard to compete with those wealthy webmasters who buy and sell links.

Techniques to rank well in Google :

- Submitting comments to high page rank do follow blogs

- Avoiding over using keyword in text, should stay less than three per cent.

For yahoo ranking well is a lot easier. And it can be done instantly for a lot of less popular keywords and long tail headings. First exchange links with other sites in the same niche as you ranking well in yahoo.

The key to rank well in Yahoo is:

- Purchasing a link on the yahoo directory. This directory is high authority and having only one link for a site, from this directory can rank you number one. Although it is very expensive and around three hundred dollars.

The key to rank well in MSN:

- This is more difficult than yahoo. The rankings seem inaccurate as well with weak sites ranking better than strong sites in a lot of niches. But the only way to get around this is linking with those sites only, that are ranking well with msn.

Its best to focus on link exchange with those sites ranking highly in all these search engines and not low ranked sites. Getting back links on high authority sites is the key. Over my years of working in SEO, I have found this most difficult in MSN.

SEO Copywriting

One of the ways to efficient SEO design principles to establish your pages in search engines is creating keyword-rich, tactful and credible content. This involves having specific keywords present in a particular format on the pages you are working on SEO writing. Additionally, like keywords & density, format of on page content also decides effectiveness and whether it helps increase organic search engine rankings. However, it will be far more effective when combined with off-page promotion activities in addition to it.

Writing

The most effective way pursued for copy writing these days is direct copy which makes customers react in desired ways. For a copy writer the least to keep in mind is not only to produce content specifically for search engines but also information to prod favorable responses from readers. SEO writing is way too different from writing display ad copy which asks for much more than English graduation and number of years in the business.

A SEO writer must set his eyes on setting up strong search engine spidering without loosing sight of basic purpose of making written material to make sense to the visitor. Although keywords and density requirements are part of the larger search engine optimization canvas, there is definitely more at stake to get good SERPs. Remember, the real purpose of copy writing is to persuade your audience to act in a certain way.

Given this, SEO writing entails balancing the flow and readability and strewing keywords sensibly. Incorporating keywords and still be able to maintain flow and readability at desired level is a quality of a good web writer copywriting for optimization purposes.

Keywords

On their part, customers locate their desired information going by keyword searches; having keywords for what you are selling in appropriate places such as title, subheads etc strikes highly with the customers as well as search engines. An excellent SEO [http://contentarticles.healthgenie.org/]copy writer knows the best keyword placement format within the body of his text. The more sensible the keyword usage, higher is the likelihood of ranking in search engines quicker. In much the similar fashion, you can have keywords woven all through the page while writing long copies.

Copy writing is not a ‘count me too’ skill that you can add-on quickly to your portfolio. It takes a very good grasp of the target market and subject you are writing on besides having a thorough knowledge of the principles of consumer psychology.

Once a site is in a search engine, the search engine’s spider will revisit it and rebuild their index with the changed parts of the site. Some like to think that the spider will hit every page, but choose a very active site and look at the cached pages in the search engines and the cache dates will not be the same. A good way to encourage the search engines to hit every page it to make your site map be obvious on the site and if you can, use the sitemap that is generated by your search engine of preference. Given the choice between hoping the spider finds your cool little trick and staying with something that works - well I advise you stick with things that work.

Search engines were developed by people that know the changing (there, it just changed), so the search engines are always doing there thing with web pages. You will see a page move up, down and sometimes unexplainably vanish for different lengths of time. Although I have not experienced it personally, I have read of 2 people on different side of the US that searched a site and found it on 2 different positions of the search engine results page. This is because there is not just one server with page rank information and while one is updated right now, another will be updated in 30 minutes (Hey, there it goes again, the internet just changed).

In days of old, people were told to submit their domain to the search engines, but the search engines move so fast that a site just needs to be entered on any social media site and it will be spidered right away. I keep one video that is watched between 2000 and 4000 times a day just so I can plug in a domain name that I want spidered. So not only will every engine probably find your site on its own the first time, it will keep visiting it on its own - as long as you keep the site fresh. Update you site or the spider will stop coming to visit.

The major search engines appear to visit most pages in its database at least once a month. If a site I am working on is not spidered weekly, there is something wrong. Some pages get visited every day and a good objective for your site is to have enough content coming in that the search engines have reason to visit daily. Sites with a higher PageRank do get spidered more often than sites with a low PR. And sites which update more frequently get spidered more often than sites which does not have updates - and there is nothing wrong with an archive site that never updates.

If you have a Wordpress blog there is a tool built in that notifies the major search engines each time you make an update, it is called a PING tool. You can try to get spidered more often by updating your pages often. Minor changes are still changes, you don’t have to rewrite the site every day. There are disadvantages to changing your site daily - the first being you run the risk of human error. Make a mistake because you are making a change and you can take your site down, not a good idea.

When you have a website that you are using for a business it is important for that site to be found within the search engines. It can be difficult to compete with so many other websites on the internet so optimizing your website in order for it to get brought to the top of the search results is a necessity. You may be wondering how, exactly, does that task get accomplished. It does not have to be complicated, but knowing a little bit of html is required.

When viewing the html code of your website it looks like a bunch of mumbo jumbo at first, but when you learn what the different symbols stand for it makes it a lot easier. All the tags start with and end with So, for the title of your website it would look like this Title Goes Here When choosing your title you want it to have the keywords you want to optimize your website for. Choose keywords that are longer and not too competitive.

You can use tools like Overture or Word Tracker to choose your keywords. These tools will tell you how competitive your chosen keywords are and how many times they are searched for each month. Take the keywords you chose and place them in the title, h1, h2, alt, and meta keyword tags. Sprinkle those keywords throughout the body of your website making sure they are at the beginning and end.

Try to keep the menu on the right side of the page. Search engines read a website from the right down, center down then left down. You want the majority of your keywords in the body of the website not the menu, Keep the density of your keywords between 2%-6% for maximum benefit. You can check this with a keyword density tool on the web. Just do a search and it will come up.

The alt attributes are within the image tag. When you put a keyword within these attributes it will show on the webpage when the cursor is hovering over that image. Using your keywords in some of the text links on your website will also help the optimization of your website.

Some basic html knowledge is needed when optimizing a website but there are plenty of places on the internet where you can learn the basics. Doing the things described in this article will give you the best chance of getting to the top of the search engines. This helps bring targeted visitors to your website and eventually sales for your business.

When you get the hang of all this you can add other keywords to your site and start ranking high in the search engines for those terms as well. It takes time to learn and it takes time to rank highly for your chosen keywords but it is possible to do without having to be too difficult.

Want to receive a flood of free residual traffic for a long time to come? SEO (Search engine optimization) is a great way to achieve that. Basically, you optimize your sites so well that the search engines come to see you as an authority for a certain keyword phrase, and place your site amongst the top rankings.

If you want to do some fast SEO, here are some useful tips you can use as soon as possible:

Use your Meta Tags

Include your main keyword phrase in all your meta tags. These include your Title, Keywords, and Description. Using these will greatly increase the SEO power of your site.

Get quick, high quality backlinks

Go to a forum like Digital Point and begin trading links with other webmasters. The more backlinks you have pointing to your site, the better your rankings will be. Also, do some forum posting and include an anchor text link in your signature, this action will give you more incoming links.

Get fast content for your site

Content is one of the key factors in SEO. Particularly, original content. So if you want some fast content for your site, you can find writers who will write articles for you at $5 or less at resources like Elance and Get A Freelancer. Be sure to state to your freelancer that you should have main keyword phrase sprinkled throughout your content to achieve better relevance with that keyword phrase that you are targeting for top rankings. You should aim for a keyword density of 3-5%. This means for every 100 words of content, 3-5 words should be your be main keywords.

Ok, this could probably be the shortest SEO lesson or course you’ll ever see but if you can just keep to these 7 tips and apply them, you’ll shoot right to the top of the SERPs (search engine result pages). I promise.

Drum roll please.

1) URL / Domain - Make sure the keywords you’re targeting are somewhere in your domain or url.

E.g If my site is broadly about fishing, then I want to preferably have the word “fishing” in my domain name like fishingresource or fishingfreaks or whatever. And taking it one step further, if I wanted to target fishing baits for a page on my domain, I would do something like fishingresource.com/fishing-baits.htm Got it?

2) Title Tag

Be sure to have your target keywords somewhere in your tag. Especially near the front. It’s a science! *wink*

3) Meta Keywords

Again … be sure to have your keywords in your meta keywords tag. Oh and have related terms there as well.

Tip: Head over to Quintura. It will help you identify related keywords (technically, it’s called LSI)

4) Meta Description

Write this in a natural language and just like the Title tag, have your keywords in there and near the front. Keep it short and succinct otherwise there will be keyword dilution.

5) H1 and H2 Tags

Need I say more? This is to help the search engine crawlers confirm what your page is all about. So using “fishing baits” again, you would have something like “fishing baits” as your H1 tag and “types of fishing baits” as your H2 tag. Make sense?

6) Onpage Relevancy

This stems down to your actual content and keyword density. If you want to get your page about fishing baits ranked well, the SE (search engine) would expect to see related terms (refer to tip #3) on the page. Also, be sure to have your keyword/keyphrase repeated a couple of times (but to the stage of keyword spamming) as well.

7) BACKLINKS, BACKLINKS, BACKLINKS

Ok, enough of onsite optimization (tips #1-6).

Now this step is literally the MOST IMPORTANT (say that again pls) of all. You must get lots of backlinks to the page you want to be ranked for. Like anything else, there’s a right and wrong way of doing things.

With backlinks, you want to be sure to have your keywords as your anchor text. Not sure what I’m talking about?

Take a look at this:

[a href=http://fishingresource.com/fishing-baits.htm title=”fishing baits”] Fishing Baits [/a]

So basically it’s like this:

[a href=’the page you want to be ranked for’ title=”your keywords”]”Your Keywords” [/a]

Tip: By the way, make sure the backlinks you get are from pages without the “nofollow”. Google it to find out more.

Phew … Took me about 30 minutes to write all these just for you. But hey, I wanna help you guys out. Cheers!
