The vast scope of SEO copywriting has given ample of scope for the budding writers to get noticed in the international markets in much less time than advertisement copywriters. Today, it holds tremendous power than conventional print media, and offers glaring opportunities to professionals who write copy for the web. The style and manner of presentation in such writings also differs a great deal from conventional media. It is all about those powerful search engines and the Internet protocols.

It is designed on the basis of keywords chosen and such keywords make a huge difference when it is populated on servers. The search engine spiders crawl, they tickle and what you get is high page rank and good amount of traffic to your website. Every SEO copywriter has one mission and the mission is to get the maximum visibility and maximum page rank. SEO copy writing is designed with a sole aim to develop the text for the Internet audience. The form of text can also vary in the sense and structure.

SEO copy writing works and hovers around the keywords to generate power traffic and this is the real mantra of Internet marketing. You need not be a writing expert to get a hold of required flow; and this is the reason why I say that many programmers have plunged into this and earning some bucks writing from home.

I will not say that anything you write will be published out there and everything what you published gets equal visibility. SEO copy writing inculcates various content management tools and these in turn are indispensable for marketing the text online so that visitors throng to your website. Therefore, care should be taken that what you write should make real sense and that it should be in context of title.

Remember, that you are writing for the online media. SEO copy writing is not an easy task, especially, if you are a new comer to this virtual world. However, with little practice and errors, you will certainly graduate to becoming a good and popular copywriter.

What would happen if…? I’m a person to always ask that question. I love testing and tracking to see what factors can improve or worsen a situation. So, it was only natural for me to track the moves of a little experiment I did involving SEO copywriting recently. I’ll gladly share my findings with you.

Before I do, however, I want to make a couple of things very clear. The outcome of this experiment will not be the same for every keyphrase on every page of every site. There are too many unknown factors at play in the overall SEO equation. Not to mention, all keyphrases are not the same, and all sites are not the same. In addition, this experiment takes no account of link popularity, which is a huge factor in achieving high rankings. With that said, let me show you how I took the home page of one of my sites - that didn’t even rank in the top 50 - and caused it to rank in the top 10.

First of all, I’m not a big fan of checking rankings on a regular basis. I don’t run ranking reports for all my sites to be sure they are all in the positions I want them in for every given keyphrase. I’ll do it from time to time just to satisfy my own occasional curiosity. This experiment began when I noticed the home page of one of my sites was ranking highly for a keyphrase that didn’t seem to appear anywhere in the text. Upon further investigation, I saw that the keyphrase was included in the ALT tags (a.k.a. image attribute tags) and that it was also included in the title tag.

I knew ALT tags previously carried a lot of weight with the engines, but had been downgraded in importance because site owners had badly abused the tag. Had ALT tags been reinstated in their level of importance? I decided to find out.

Keyword #1 was currently in the ALT tags and the title tag, so I decided to eliminate the keyword in the title tag. This would let me see if the ALT tags alone could hold the position in the search engine results pages (SERPs). To make things more interesting, I also decided to research and find a keyword that was a little more competitive and insert it into the title tag. On the same day I removed Keyword #1 from the title tag, I inserted Keyword #2. My home page was not ranked in the top 50 at that time for Keyword #2.

A few days later, the Googlebot came by and boosted my home page to position #18 for Keyword #2. Not bad! The page fell one spot (from #17 to #18) for Keyword #1 since the removal of the phrase from the title tag.

Keep in mind, these are not the most competitive keywords ever known. They each got between 100 to 200 searches a day. Also, the home page of this particular site had been (and still is) well ranked for years for other keyphrases and had a positive legacy with Google.

Five days later, Keyword #2 was moved up three notches to a ranking of #14 while Keyword #1 stayed the same. Things remained in their status quo for roughly 10 days and then began to shift again. Keyword #1, the original that was previously in both the ALT tags and the title tag, vanished completely. It was not found in the top 50. Keyword #2, that was only found in the title tag and nowhere else, dropped to position #25.

Four days later, Keyword #2 was back up in the rankings and was now at #16. To see if I could improve rankings further, I began to make small tweaks to the page attributes. I added Keyword #2 to the ALT tags (taking the places where Keyword #1 had once been), and I also added Keyword #2 to the body copy. The keyphrase was added to one, bold sub-headline and at three places within the body copy: none of which were above the fold. It was not added to any primary headlines that used tags, and no keyword density formula was followed for the body copy. No other pages on my site used this term as anchor text in links pointing to the home page. That gave the page keyword placement in the:

· Title tag

· ALT tags

· Body copy

Seven days later, the home page hit the top 10 for Keyword #2!

So, what does all this mean? Simple. There is no single primary factor in search engine rankings. It takes balance, testing and tracking to find out what works for your particular pages. Your best bet is to do exactly what I did… begin one step at a time and track your progress. Did something cause a positive movement? Keep it. If something causes a negative shift, take it out.

I’m not finished with this page yet. I’ll keep trying different things from time to time just to see what happens. Maybe I’ll add anchor text links from the internal pages to the home page. I might try writing articles with keyword-rich anchor text links to help boost the rankings more. There are many acceptable practices I can implement for this page (or any page) that will allow me to observe the shifts in ranking. As the old saying goes, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” A diversified approach to SEO copywriting that includes tags, copy and links is always a wise start down the road to top 10 rankings.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term SEO copywriting, the acronym SEO stands for search engine optimized copywriting. This refers to the craft of writing text on a page in a way that is readable to both surfers and search engine spiders. The ultimate purpose of SEO copywriting is to elevate your site’s ranking in the search engines through the incorporation of targeted keywords and keyword descriptions that are found right in the body of the text on your website.

The keywords are obtained by finding out how people phrase their requests when they input a request into the search engines. Commonly searched for content is found using a keyword search tool such as the Overture keyword search tool. Once the top ten to twenty to keywords are found, articles are then created around each of these key phrases and posted to the web site in the form of a blog or articles. Each of these new search engine optimized articles creates new portals for the search engines to spider when people type in those key phrases during a search. So in essence the search engine optimized article is mainly a way to increase sales or membership conversions by increasing your visibility in the search engines.

Professional SEO copywriters that keyword paragraphs ideally be about 250 -500 words in length but no more than 100 words. These types of articles must be well written and informative with at least two of the search terms strategically placed within the text and other on-page elements.

Yet another use for these articles is as submissions to ezine and article directories where people will post them, along with a link to your site on their own site. This is a way of making others do your advertising for you and increasing traffic so that you can make a bigger profit with your website.

So you finally built a website for your home-based business. How exciting is that!? Now you just have to let people know you’re out there. The best method is to use an SEO copywriting strategy, which optimizes your web content using popular keywords.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. You want to fill your website with the most commonly searched words within your industry. These words are called keywords. They’re what web researchers type into search engine boxes when looking for information. Your job will be to find out what those words are, and then add them to your website content and web theme.

As the top search engines send their spiders out to crawl the web, they’ll index your content using the keywords you’ve placed strategically throughout. If you do this right, you’ll rank high in your content category. Even if you don’t do it exactly right, you’ll still be better off than if you don’t do it at all.

Tips on SEO Copywriting: Where do I put those keywords?

1. In your website’s title and ALT titles.

Your website’s title is what comes up at the top of the internet browser and what someone will read as the description when they bookmark your site. So if you want people to know what you’re all about, the title is the place to tell them.

Your ALT title is visible in the source code of each web page. If you vary your ALT titles using keywords to describe what’s on each page, your entire site will be indexed categorically.

2. In your website’s META tag description.

This is what comes up when web visitors are hunting the search engines and your website comes up in the hit list. Underneath your URL, you can add a brief description of your services and/or offerings, that visitors can read and decide to click on your site from the search engine.

3. In every page header.

Each section of a web page should ideally have a headline or header. Your web sections will go like this: < title > < head > < h1 > < h2 > etc., followed by the < body > and < footer >. By designating your sections and then including keywords in the content of each section, you’re ensuring that the web crawlers will index your entire site and not skip over anything.

4. In your hyperlinks.

A well-organized website will be peppered with hyperlinks that lead the viewer from page to page. Each of these hyperlinks should contain a relevant and popular keyword which the search engines will follow along as they index.

5. In your web content.

Today’s web crawlers can scan your web content, guided by the hyperlinks and keywords. If you include your most popular keywords in the first few words of each paragraph, and repeat these keywords here and there throughout, you’ll ensure that your page will get picked up by the web crawlers.

6. In the navigation bar.

Have you been noticing that more and more people use the same format for their website’s navigation bar? Some typical navigation bar labels include: About Us, Services, Free Tips, Contact. These are words that web crawlers now recognize as preserving the continuity of your website. Use them to promote efficient search engine run-through.

7. In the ALT description of your images.

ALT stands for alternate text- what your visitor will see if for some reason your image does not appear when they load your page in their web browser. ALT descriptions help people understand what they might not be seeing; for example, Wordfeeder Copywriting Logo. Include your most popular keywords in your image ALT descriptions.

So: now that you know where to put keywords in your web copy, how are you ever going to make it interesting and compelling to the reader? Well, you could spend hours researching all the right keywords, spend days redesigning your website’s format, and spend weeks trying to create hypnotic web copy. Or, you could contact [http://www.wordfeeder.com]Wordfeeder.com and have them do it for you.

By Matt Jackson

The title is one of the most important aspects of your article. A good title will improve the ranking of your article within the search results, increase the number of people that view your article, and help to generate a greater number of links from websites publishing that article. Using some or all of the following five tips it is possible to explode the success of your article.

1 - Utilize Your Targeted Keywords

Search engines have become more semantic, or topic based, but keywords are still an integral part of search engine optimization. Research targeted keywords and ensure that they are included in your title - the closer to the beginning of the title you can get them, the better the results are likely to be.

2 - Top Tens

Greater search engine exposure for your article is only a portion of the battle, albeit an important portion. Persuading readers to click through and read more is also important - top tens, top fives, and similarly related article titles always prove popular because they indicate that there will be clear information provided in a meaningful and easy to understand manner.

3 - How-To Guides

Readers want information. Websites want to publish articles that offer the reader that information. By offering a how-to guide you are indicating to readers and website owners that your article is filled with informative content.

4 - Make It Accurate

There is nothing more annoying to a reader than an inaccurate or nonsensical title. All the keywords and top tens in the world won’t rescue an article title that is unrelated to the article itself or the topic that article is based on.

5 - The Shorter The Better

While keeping points one to four in mind, you should aim for as short a title as possible. Ten words or less is perfect and if you can do it in fewer words, then you should attempt to do so. If you use too many words you run the risk that the majority won’t appear in search engine listings and you will put readers as well as Webmasters off reading or using your article.

SEO Copywriting, or search engine copywriting, is the art of combining the right search terms relevant to your product or service, with the right math - the algorithms used by Google, MSN, Yahoo!, etc.

SEO Copywriting is a combination of art (the words) and science (the math) resulting in website copy which produces actual, not perceived results. Knowing the “math” and “structure” preferred by the search engines is the first component to successful SEO copywriting.

Knowing what keywords your audience is searching for, and which keywords are making your competition succeed is crucial. Forget about what YOU think — it doesn’t matter and no one cares! Use a comprehensive analysis tool like WebCEO to strategize and track your results.
Divide your keywords up into three tiers, write them out in three separate columns if you have to and see which individual words “piggyback” on each other. Follow the searcher’s behavior, combine terms, go against the grain when copywriting for SEO.

For example: You want visitors seeking “Google Page Rank”
You begin the process:

(1) Keyword Research

(Keyword Set, # of Daily Searches,Competition - # of indexed pages)

Google Page Rank,less than 10,31,200,000

Google PageRank,173,51,500,000

GooglePageRank,761,331,000

This analysis shows that when choosing the Keyword to use in your website pay close attention to search behavior, and for that matter in the content in your press releases and alt-tags, your best bet is to choose the keyword set that provides the greatest number of searches with the least amount of resistance.

(2) SEO Copywriting Techniques. Bold and italicized words carry more weight with the search engines.

(3) Keyword Density is important as well. Try to target 3-5 important keywords and use them liberally throughout your page (5-7 times), don’t forget to create a separate page for EACH keyword set, rotating secondary keyword sets throughout the site. Not to brag, but Kaboodle Venture’s index page is a good example: keywords Affordable SEO , Organic SEO and SEO Specialist are the targets - not all tier 1 keyword sets, but dovetail nicely, if not a bit overdone! This is a new site and went to page 2,2 & 3 respectively almost overnight on MSN.

(4) Don’t get too caught up in SEO Copywriting tactics and forget that your content needs to be informative, engaging and most importantly provide compelling calls to action.

We often forget when SEOing, that somebody actually reads our sites and formulates a buying decision. All the SEO in the world doesn’t help if you don’t provide calls to action and available points of purchase. It’s all about Browsers into Buyers.

Happy SEOing!
